FAITHFUL DOG

BRINGS HELP TO MASTER : INJURED BY FALL SYDNEY, Aug. 12. A faithful cattle dog brought assistance to its master, who was injured ilt'a fall into a stormwater channel at Bankstown last night. "When assistance arrived, the dog refused to allow anyone to approach the. injured man. Emanuel Bulmer, of Brancourt avenue, Bankstown, was on his way home when he took a short cut across a paddock. He did not see the stormwater channel until he fell into it and in the fall he received a fracture of the thigh, which prevented ltinj from getting out! ■ The cattle dog ran into the street, and"by frantic barking soon attracted the attention of passers-by. _ they summoned the Canterbury District Ambulance, but then a new complication arose. The dog bared its teeth whenever the helpers approached its master, and nothing could be done for him. The difficulty was solved when Bulmer ’s wife was called. She quietened the dog, and Bulmer was then taken to the Canterbury Hospital.
