FILMS SUGGESTED CORONATION—CENTENNIAL Thri production of special motion pictures for publicity, purposes was advocated by Mr. C. 11. Burnett (Government—Tati ranga) in giving notice of a question to the Minister of Internal Affairs, the. lion. W. E. Party, in the House of Representatives. Mr. Burnett held that special films should be prepared to give publicity to the Dominion at tlife time of the coronation of King Edward in London next year and also on the occasion of the centenary of New Zealand in 1940. A. film of the Dominion’s scenic resorts was suggested by Mr. Burnett as a publicity medium for release during the coronation ceremonies. He expressed the opinion" that farming scenes and others of general interest to tourists and visitors should be included, and that another film should be prepared dealing comprehensively with the primary and secondary industries of the Dominion. A further suggestion by Mr. Burnett was that the Minister should consider (lie preparation of a film symbolic of the early Maori life of New Zealand, together with all places of historic interest in the early colonisation of the Dominion. The film should deal with the life of the Maori from the arrival of Captain Cook to the present day. He advocated its release throughout' the Empire as a means of arousing interest in the approaching centenary of New Zealand.
