GENERAL RATE DOUBLED
More than double last year’s general rate* was decided upon by the ilawera Borough Council to meet increasing expenditure. bast year the general rate was l),d in the pound, and this year the rate will be 2Jd in the pound. The main excrease in the estimated expenditure was in labour for public works, which at £3067 showed a rise of £IOOO over the actual expenditure of last year.
