HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY

THE ANNUAL MEETING FINANCES SOUND The annual meeting of the Poverty Bay Horticultural Society was held in the “Mary Elizabeth” tea rooms last night, when Mr. C. O. Hansen presided over an attendance of 20 members. In moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, already reported in the Herald, the chairman stated that the society was fortunate in being in a strong financial position, having .C7l in the bank and plant valued at .0 75. It was unfortunate that there should have been a. loss on the shows during the year, but this had been recouped from membership fees. He suggested that the society should make an attempt to secure more members. It should be quite easy to double the membership, and then the loss on the shows would not worry the society. With a bigger membership there would be a better prospect of the shows being a success. The following officers were elected: President, Mr. C. O. Hansen, reelected; vice-president, Mr. G. T.
