For Mobile Work
THE engineering branch of the National Broadcasting Company. F.S.A., has designed a practical transmitter weighing less than a pound and fitting within a Bin cube. The associated aerial equipment consists of two rods, each loin long. Fed from a 90 volt battery, the transmitter, which uses micro-rays, has a range of up to four miles.
Intended for mobile work in the course of which the announcers may 'visit to move quickly from point to point, it is an extended application of the “wander" type of system and offers a ready method of extending the pick-tip scope of the associated network. in u commentary on a New York fashion parade, this equipment was housed in the top hat of the commentator, the only visible sign being a rod projecting from the hat.
