THAMES 18 MILES FIVE HOURS AND A HALF LONDON, Aug. 0. Holbein, the famous swimmer, who is now 70 years of age, lasi evening swam the Thames from Richmond Loch to London Bridge, a distance of IS miles, in n-i hours. Holbein has had many notable river swims. lie made nine attempts to swim the Channel, the Inst being on his fifty-second birthday. lie was nearest to success in 11)02, when he had to give up when within 500 yards of Dover.
