SIR THOMAS WILFORD

VISIT TO NEW ZEALAND HERE FOR A CONFERENCE (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Sir Thomas Wilford arrived to-day from London by the Akaroa, accompanied by Lady Wilford. lie is the chairman "of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of the British Empire, and the primary purpose of his visit is to attend thb annual conference here in October. He will return to England with the delegates leaving from Auckland on October 50. Sir Thomas .said that ho. anticipates that there will be fully 150 delegates from Empire countries! Though , the resolutions will have no legal effect, they will bo an. indication to different parts of the Empire of the mind of the Empires on those particular ques : tions. The conference in effect would bo a round-table conference on important economic questions. After the conference the, delegates would tonr New Zealand. The Government had granted railway facilities and tariff concessions at hostels. Sir Thomas will visit Auckland and Christchurch, and his private affairs may entail a visit to Australia.
