GERMAN REARMAMENT
HELIGOLAND ACTIVITY
LONDON, June 17. The Daily Telegraph's naval correspondent says that Germany is re-fortifying Heligoland, which was permanently demilitarised under the Versailles Treaty. The work is reported to be proceeding with the utmost energy. A new harbour is being constructed and powerful batteries are being installed. Other German North Sea islands, that are 1 being re-fortified and heavily armed are Borkiim and Wangeroog, which guard the entrance to the Wilhelmshaven naval base. Nordemey and Sylt are also reported to be strongly defended.
