SCHOOL COMMITTEE
(Herald Correspondent.)
The Nuhaka Public School committee meeting was held on. Monday evening, those present being Messrs. W. Boyle, chairman, G. B. Steele, T. MoKee, and 0. 1). Tod, secretary. The chairman moved a vole of condolence with the relatives of the late Constable 11. Staniland, and Mr. VVi Smith. The headmaster. .Mr. F. Hankin, reported 1 the school roll at 61, with an average attendance of 56. The general health of the school was good. The committee decided to carry out a number of improvements to the grounds. A school concert will be held in Air* 3>t.
Mr. .!. Millar, postmaster, is on his annual vacation. Mr. .1. A. 1!. Kirkwood, Napier, acting poslmaster, is in charge of the Nuhaka office.—Mr. 11. Anderson has returned from Marlon. —Mr. P. D. Sullivan, "Omana." is visiting Palmerston North, his home town.
Much rain has fallen during the last 48 hours. At Whakaki yesterday lb" whole of the Hats resembled one great sheet of water. A settler who had known the district for many years said he did not remember seeing it in such a stale. The main' road' from Nuhaka fo Wairoa was passable.
