ALL-ROUND INCREASE
BRITISH OVERSEAS TRADE
LAST MONTH'B RETURNS
(Heed. June 16, 11 a.m.) LONDON, June 15. Board of Trade returns for May show that imports were valued at £69,178,000, exports at £56,396,000. and re-exports at £5,634,000.
The principal increases, compared with May of last year, were: In imports, dairy produce, £802,000 j fresh fruit ana vegetables, £630,000; raw cotton and waste, £554,000; wool, raw and waste, £410,000; Hides and skins, £497,000; machinery, £425,000. In exports, miscellaneous manufactures, £469,000; woollen worsteds, £356,000. In re-exports, nonferrous metals and manufactures, £350,000.
Principal decreases were: In imports, meat, £599,000; rubber, £643,000, In exports, coal, £298,000; non-ferrous metals and manufactures, £212,000. In re-exports, wool, raw and waste, £199,000.
Last month's imports compare with £64,532,286 in May of last year, which was one of the best months for some considerable time. The total value of exports in May, 1935, was £40,766,622, this also having been a particularly high figure
