MONEY HANDED BACK
ALLEGED £7500 THEFT
STATEMENT IN COURT
(Per Press Association.) ) !. : "" WANGANUI, this day. Maurice Edward Alexander, a bank teller, of Mangaweka, aged 32 years, who was charged yesterday at Mangaweka with the theft of £7500, the property of the Bank of New Zealand, appeared on remand this morning before Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., and was further remanded to appear at Taihape on. Friday.
Mr. W. C. Bainbridge asked for bail, stating that the whole of the money had been handed back by the accused. The police offered no objections, and the magistrate said that under the circumstances he would fix bail in personal recognisance of £2OO and a surety for a similar amount, a-condi-tion being that the accused should report daily to the police at Mangaweka.
