WRESTLING
GISBORNE ASSOCIATION
KING'S BIRTHDAY MATCH
Satisfaction with the match between Paul Boesch and Joe. Woods, allocated to Gisborne for the King's Birthday, was expressed by members of the Gisborne Wrestling Association's executive at a meeting held last evening, the opinion being expressed that the match will draw well, especially in view of the decision on the occasion of the last meeting of I his pair at i'almerston North, when a draw resulted.
The meeting was presided over by Mr. K. McNeil, in the absence of Mr. George Clayton owing to illness. The main business was connected with the match for next Tuesday, the secretary, Mr. T. Smale, submitting correspondence from the New Zealand Union indicating that seven other associations had asked for matches on the same date, and that it had not been possible to satisfy the requirements of all. The executive conlirnied the arrangements for Tuesday, with expressions of satisfaction.
l'rices of admission were lixed on the same scale as for recent tournaments, and officials were appointed to their regular tournament duties. It was mentioned by the secretary that arrangements were in hand, tentatively, for the entertainment by the Wrestling Association of the visiting rodeo riders, who would be competing at the King's Birthday rodeo under the auspices of the A. and ? , Association; and also the winning teivm in the sports tournament on the same day. These arrangements were approved by the committee, and permission was given to finalise them.
Nominations were invited from amateurs wishing to take part in preliminary bouts on Tuesday, and those ready for matches were advised to send their names to Mr. Smale or to Mr. Reg. Humphreys by Thursday evening, so that the match committee could complete its work as early as possible.
