STRANDED BLACKFISH
230 ON NUHAKA BEACH MANY PEOPLE VISIT SCENE (Special to tho H«rald.) NUHAKA, this day. A most unusual spectacle is to be witnessed on the Nuhaka Beach. Over 230 blacklist, ;i species of whale, are now high and dry on the 'beach, principally opposite Uriti Hill.
The first batch of about 120 appeared on Thursday, but. since then this number has greatly increased and they still continue to come in. In length the blackfish vary from 6ft. to 16ft.
This is the 'first time that blackfish have been washed \ip on the. Nuhaka sicle of Opoutama, and hundreds of people have visited the scene. Many views have been expressed 1 as to the reason of this visitation. The natives have been very busy cutting up the flesh, from winch a valuable oil is obtained, and carting it away for boiling dowa.
