REAR-ADMIRAL
COMMODORE DRUMMOND PROMOTION NEXT MONTH The fact that next month he would become a rear-admiral was mentioned by Commodore the Hon. E. R. Drummonci. commanding the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy, speaking at the annual prize night 6f the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron at Auckland. "Before coming hero to-night, I had the pleasure of dining with your commodores, past and present,'*' 'he said. "There 1 had the distinction of being the only commodore second-class. Also, your commodores,are flag officers. lam »ot."
Commodore Drummond said that next month, age and seniority would put him over the top of the captains' list and lie would become a rear-admiral. He would continue as a commodore second-class in New Zealand until his appointment expired. "I shall become what a boy on being interviewed for the Navy described as the lowest type of admiral," he concluded.
