WIG AN MEETING
The Wigan Women's Institute held its monthly meeting in the dog trial building sit Mangahia, Mrs. Crunswick presided over a good attendance despite the cold day. Mrs. Gardner was welcomed as a new member. Several apologies for absence were received. The competition, word building, was won by -Mrs. 11. Nelson, who received a pretty" vase. The competition for the prettiest, coal hanger made from silk was won bv Mrs. Jolly, with I). Grail] second, and Mrs. Craill third. The best coat hanger made from cotton material was won by Miss.loan Bartram.
A discussion on the present mode of dress was very amusing. The scantiness of apparel being criticised and in some cases much admired.
Next month's competition will be an eggless cake. Mrs. Irvine offered the use of her room for the next meeting and this was gratefully accepted. It was
