TROTTING DECISION

MRS. M. CLARK SUCCEEDS

The decision of the appeal judges appointed by the New Zealand Trotting Conference to hear the appeal uf Mrs. M. Chirk, of Wi'titon, the owner of tho trotter, Stirling Lady, against the decision oi' the New Zealand Trolling Association dismissing her appeal from the decision of the Wyndhnm Trotting Club is now announced.

The judges, Messrs. B. S. Irwin, A. C. Han'lon, and J. S. Sinclair, upheld :he appeal and ordered the return of the deposits made by the appellant t'or the appeal, and referred the question of .costs to the New Zealand Trotting Conference. Their conclusion was that the proceedings, which they purported to be an inquiry by the stewards of the club consequent upon an objection made by a stipendiary steward, we're irregular and ultra vires. Quite apart from this conclusion, the judges state that the appellant could succeed on ithcr grounds. The facts are that in the concluding ace of the Wyndham. meeting, Stirling i.ady boat Pot Luck, but the judge's (lacings were reversed by the judicial ■6mmitt.ee on the ground that Stirling Lady bored in in the final stages.
