Miss If. Jacobs (U.S.A.) exploiting iter tierce forehand powers then retrieved and went ahead to 9—3, but, Miss Stammers forced her way to lead 10—9. Miss lacobs, volleying magnificently, saved the set points and twice aced Miss Stammers, levelling the scores to 10—10. Miss Stammers, undaunted, volleyed ind served her way to lead again. 11—10. when vain suspended play.
