INDIAN CRICKETERS

MATCH WITH DURHAM ANSWER TO CRITICISM (Reed. June 11, 11.40 a.m.) LONDON, June 10. In the first innings of their match with Durham, the touring Indian cricketers made 174 runs. Durham in the first strike has scored 9o urns for seven wickets. Reports from Bombay state that the failures of the Indian cricketers, who have not won a match and have lost six in England, is causing much concern in India. Critics arc urging the Cricket Board of Control to take drastic steps to avoid ignominy and advocate the displacement of the Maharajah of Vizanagrain from the captaincy in favour of Nayudu or Wazirali. Nayudu's brother, C. S. Nayudu, who is a* googley bowler, is now flying to England to strengthen the attack. Major Brittain Jones, the manager of the touring side, states that the Bombay criticism does not represent Indian opinion. He says there is every .confidence in the captain, who had fully justified his selection. '' We We had a run of bad luck, not because wo are a poor side, or badly captained," he says. "We 'have unfortunate with casualties and lad weather. It is not cricket to blackguard the players because they have lost a few games."
