30,000 CLUB
PROMISE OF HELP Further substantial progress with formation details was made at a recent meeting of Ihe executive of the 30,000 Club. Mr. dames Clirisp presided at (lie meeting, others present being Messrs. T. J. Adair. C. S. Bruce, C. S. Corson. \V. Cave, 11. R, Heiford, W. M. denkins, R. Morse, A. J. Nicol, and the hon. secretary. Mr. L. N. Harris. Apologies for absence were received from tin deputy-Mayor, Mr. H. Holmes, and Dr. H. Colliding Rice. Committee members will be supplied with receipt books, and anyone desiring to join the club as a foundation member may do so on application to them. h is not the intention to make any pub lie appeal at this stage, as it is considered desirable first to complete all matters incidental to the formation ami functioning of the club. A lelter was received from the 'lis borne District Beautifying Society in congratulatory vein, and also giving an assurance of willing co-operation in any efforts to assist.
The compilation of comprehensive lists of district clubs, .societies and companies is being gone, on with by the executive and assistants, as a- prelude to the issue of a circular indicative of Ihe aims and objects of the club. Much interest ha? been created by the announcement recently made regarding the club's objects and their far-reaching nature. Matters relating to the railway workwere discussed and' it was decided tint this should be gone " into more fullv when the formation of the club had been completed.
