Mrs. Legg, who has been eoib ducting a dressmaking class for junior members, reported good progress. The new librarian. Mrs. Anderson, has completely overhauled the library and some new books have been procured. The dramatic circle reported (lie loss of five active members, who have left Ihe district. Meetings are held on the second and fourth Wednesday evenings, and a definite course of inst'ruction is being taken up. In flie competitions there were some beautiful samples of Italian quilting, Mrs. Anderson gaining first place with a small qnilt, Mrs. Begg's cushion being second, and Mrs. Hut chins' hot water hag cover third. The junior section, plain scones, was-won by Miss Ilutehins, with Miss Betty Fisher second. The hostesses, who had made the room bright, with bowls of chrysanthemums, with a small bowl of pansies, the institute emblem, on the president's table, were- Mesdames .1. Quirk, Doyle, and E'. Derecourt and Miss Fisher.
