Model engineering as a liobbv is being taken up by so many people, young and old, in Dunedin that it. has been decided to form a Society of those interested. Reference to increased costs in the timber- industry was made by Mr. G. .T. Browne, chairman of directors, at the. annual meeting of the National Timber’Company, Limited, at Auckland. Mr. Browne said the 40-hour week and the higher wages asked by (he workers would result in a rise in timber prices. The Government realised that the in-* dustry could not pay higher wages without some increase in prices, hut, it had asked the millers not. to take, any action until it had examined the position,
