AWAPUNI SCHOOL

MEETING OF COMMITTEE SECRETARY RETIRES The monthly meeting of the Awapuni School Committee, was held this week, those present being. Messrs E. File, chairman, J. Martin. C. Prvce. J. Hodgson. F. Stenner. and ,T. Riddell. The resignation of Mr. C. L. Harvey was received with regret, and the chairman mentioned the splendid work done by him in bis capacity of bon. secretary of the committee for the past nine years. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Air. Harvey for bis past services, and many wishes were expressed! for his continued improvement in health. Air. L. (Wright was elected to fill the vacancy on the committee.

Discussion took place in connection with this year’s annual ball, and it was resolved lo hold it on a date to be arranged before the next monthly meeting. Arrangements for further treeplanting were discussed and a plan ol work decided upon. Accounts passed for payment amounted to £4 18s fid. The headmaster reported that the roll stood at 151 pupils, with an average attendance of 133.
