CHRISTIAN PRINCIPLES

WORLD REMEDY URGED GROWING N.Z. SPIRIT (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. “Everywhere I have travelled in New Zealand,’ I have found that ordinary men are ready and even eager to discuss religion, and are seeing in the principles laid down By Christ the only permanent remedy for the world’s social injustices and international fears and suspicions,” said Mr. Ivan Menzies, the popular comedian of the Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company, in an interview before he sailed l with the company for Sydney yesterday.

Mr. Menzies, who is prominent in ft* Oxford Group, said lie had clearly observed the spiritual awakening in New Zealand, as in other countries which he had visited in the last two or three years. He believed that New Zealand would, in a very short time, become a demonstration country, one demonstrating the power of the living God. “After having talked with very many people, including politicians, professional men, business men and people representing almost every part of the community, my impressions are that New Zealand is going to be a Godguided country, with a Godi-guided Government,” continued Mr. Menzies.

Asked if he could point to any centre in New Zealand as more advanced -spiritually than others, Mr. Menzies named Christchurch. He was impressed •by the responsiveness of the business community there. Mr. Menzies mentioned that a "team” of pioneers of the Oxford Group in New Zealand would be. leaving shortly for England to take part in the international “houso party” of the group to be held at Oxford early in July.
