SHOULD BE TREBLED
TASMANIA-N.Z. TRADE OPINIONS OF MINISTER SYDNEY, May 2(5. Mr. R. Cosgrove, Minister for Agriculture in the Tasmanian Government, who returned by the Wanganella today, said that as a result of his discussions with tho Now Zealand Government, trade between Tasmania and Now Zealand should be 'trebled within a year. “We have timber, carbide, copper and brass to sell to New Zealand,’’ he said, “and we can take from Now Zealand certain types of wool, fertilisers, seeds and pinowoods suitable for butter boxes. “I have found the New Zealand Government taking the point of view that it will trade with any State that will buy from tho Dominion. It must be two-way trade. I do not think New South Wales has any chance of getting her citrus fruits on the New Zealand market.”
Mr. Cosgrove will attend the agricultural conference at Canberra, beginning to-morrow, as will Mr. William Taylor, tho New Zealand Trade Commissioner, when the question of trade with New Zealand is expected to be discussed.
