A queer story was related in court this morning' of a half-blind tea h.awker, William Spence Jackson, who after sharing two gallons ol beei in a friend’s house, set lire to the window curtains when his host’s back was turned.
Hubert O’Sullivan, the man who had been entertaining Jackson, averted a serious blaze, at the expense of burned hands, by tearing' down the flaming material. Jackson, who was charged with mischief, was ordered lo reimburse O’Sullivan for the damage. The defendant offered no excuse or motive for his action.
