DAMAGES AWARDED
SEQUEL To COLLISION Evidence in a civil claim lor BA.OO giiieral and CSB 13s special damages, the hearing of which lasted two days, was eniichidcd on Saturday in the Wanganui Supreme Court before Mr. Justice Sniilli and a jury, which awarded plaintiff. Grelchen W'right, aged seven, ol Eneiihi. iJ 1100 damages, and her lather. I ’arris Ashton Wright, farmer, t!88 lcs. llie defendants were Reginald Anderson and I’atriek Mount. farmers, of lkielihi. The claim arose front a motor nceidenl ,n the main street of Raclihi. last Oetowhen a ear driven by Anderson collided with the child, who received scrims injuries from which she had not recovered.
Anderson was found to he negligent, i iie jury considering his speed excessive mi account of his close proximity to parked ears. Greteheti Wright was found partially negligent in the manner she left the footpath. Anderson s negligence was. however, held to be the real cause of the collision.
Leave was reserved to delemlatil to move in 14 days to set, aside the judgment and to enter judgment for defendant. or. alternatively, tor a nonsuit, or a new trial.
