DERBY DAY DINNER
INTENTIONS OF KING JOCKEY CLUB MEMBERS (Rccd. May 26, 12.10 p.m.) LONDON, May 25. Because of court mourning, the King will not attend the Derby and will not hold the. customary dinner for members of the Jockey Club, but he is inviting a few friends with turf associations to a dinner at York House. The King ip not abandoning the Derby dinner. Popular selections a for the Derby are Noble King, Pay; Up’ and Taj Akbar.
PRICES WEAKEN (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9.30 a.m. RUGBY, May 2/1. The prices of first and second favourites for tho Derby, which will be run over the famous racecourse on Epsom Downs next Wednesday, were both weaker at the week-end call over. Sir Alfred Butt’s Noble King kept bis position in the market. Lord Astor's Rhodes Scholar was scratched at 12.5 p.m. yesterday. Gordon Richards, who will ride Taj Akbar on Wednesday, and who rode his eighth consecutive winning mount on Friday, broke, three years ago, the 50-year-old record by riding 259 winners, and already this season has ridden 49 winners.
