NEW TAURANGA HOTEL
MODERN AND COMMODIOUS MR. b’I.KMJ XU'S OK DIM A modern hotel with commodious accommodation for the travelling public is to be. built in Tauranga for Mr. J. ACyril Fleming, Gisborne, to replace the hotel that was destroyed in the recent fire. Tenders have been called lor its construction, and it is expected that the building will 'be iu occupation belore next, Christmas.
The new building will cover the entire site, having a frontage to the Strand ot over 63ft. and nearly 129!l. to Harrington street. The walls, will he constructed'of reinforced concrete and the structure, will have n high degree of resistance to earth movement. The ground floor will comprise shops and the main public bar entrance on the Strand frontage, while the main entrance will he in Harrington street as formerly. There will he accommodation lor 32 guests as well as 11 of a, stall. Fireproof or file resisting materials will be employed throughout (he structure. 'I he main roof of the building will be covered with heavy corrugated asbestos roofing lo eliminate the constant maintenance required through the ravage ol sail spray and also lo deaden the. sound of rain. The. external colour scheme ol the building will be green with huff panels and black bands ami Slay bright steel lettering.
