Of a gross tonnage of 80,773, the overall length of the world’s grandest liner is 1018 ft and the beam 118 ft. Her height from keel to top super-_ structure is 135 ft, to top forward funnel 180 ft, and to masthead 234 ft, and her amazing beauty of form is unmatched in a ship of such giant bulk and strength. Her power is even more stupendous than he r size. Her propelling plant is expected to develop 200,000 h.p. and to drive her at a maximum speed of 33 knots. This will enable her, it is confidently hoped, to regain for Britain the blue ribbon of the Atlantic. No ship has ever made such an appeal to the whole nation. A quarter of a million people all over Britain have had a hand in the innumerable details of construction and equipment that have gone to the perfecting of this masterpiece of British craftsmanship.
