Semple, hopes to bo able to bring down before Partial ment adjourns for the short winter recess. •‘Unless we can get proper control over road traffic, we have no chance of reducing the number of accidents on roads,” said Air. Semple in an interview. “I regard this as one of our most urgent needs. Tho bill will give us power to take this control and to ensure that all vehicles on -the .reads shall reach an adequate standard ot mechanical fitness.” Air. Semple also said the bill would provide for a nationalised system oi traffic inspection and a nationalised schedule of traffic laws, which would apply all over the Dominion, There would be one set of by-iavs operating from the North Cape to the Bluff. Every driver with a license would receive a cony and it would be seen that he understood them. No matter in what part- of the Dominion a motorist happened to be. he would know the regulations he had to obey. The Minister added that, the .Government would endeavour to have traffic inspectors under proper control and to have properly trained men permanently employed on the one job.
