RULES FOR TOURNAMENT Every player in tlie-first round wd. play every other man m bis section, tins ensuring that each lias at least five games. The seven section winners will play off for the clemi-scmi-lmals, a- bye living necessary at this stage. Of tne seven, three will be eliminated ill the deini-seini-finals, leaving four players foi Urn semi-finals and two for tlie finals. In sectional play, there will be one game'ol 51 up. the stewards reserving the right to reduce the points to 21 if shortage ol time necessitates this. In the later stages, each match will be three games of 51 up. In all games, two clear points are necessary for a win.

Play will commence on Wednesday evening, the first, night of the show, as soon as the opening ceremony, to he performed by the deputy-Mayor, Mr. Jl. Holmes, lias concluded, about 8 o’clock. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday it will commence at 7.11> p.m. The first three sections are to be in attendance on Wednesday, and sections 4 (any games not completed), 4 and 5 on Thursday, sections 6 and 7 mi Friday, when it. may also be possible to complete some post-sectional piay. The semi-finals and finals will be played on Saturday. Any players not able to attend on lln appointed night through having other engagements (e.g., Savage Ohio on Wed \ nesdav or business on Friday), may play their games oil any oilier night, provided their opponents arc present. Late entries will he received up to the imp of starting any particular section, 'f sufficient entries come before Wednesday, an eighth section will lie arranged, thus avoiding u bye in the post-sectional play.
