APPLICATION FOR RECORD
BOOT’S HALF-MILE RUN ALLEGATION OF UNFAIRNESS (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Allegations of unfair treatment of its application for a record for BSO yards, made by the runner, V. P. Boot, were made at a meeting of the Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic. Association last evening. It was decided to ask tlie-New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association to reconsider its decision. The application, it was stated, had been rejectee: on the ground that the centre had not complied with the rules in measuring the track. The reason was that, to measure the track directly after the race, would have meant holding up the athletic meeting for more than an hour. The track was measured before the nice and again on the following morning, and members stated that other records by overseas athletes had been recognised under .nose conditions.
