DAVIS CUP PRELUDE AUSTRALIANS' EXHIBITION (RlflC Tel. Copyright —United Press Assn.) NEW YORK, May 23. The Australian Davis Cup tennis players journeyed to Moorestown. NewJersey, to-day in a series of exhibition iiintches'at the Moorestown Field Club, and displayed a high grade type of tennis to impress the 1200 spectators, including several members of the American Davis Cup committee. Crawford and Quist divided two SO I S (', — 2, (i— 'A respectively, and Spronle and McOratli divided two sets, li— '2 each. In the doubles, Crawford and Quist defeated McGrath and Sproule., li— 'A, American tennis experts were present and particularly noted the quality of Quist's play, both in the singles a.ii.l the doubles, leading some to express the opinion that he and Crawford will play in the doubles as well as the singles, although Sproule gave no intimation regarding the assignment of the players. The Australians were entertained at lunch nt the estate of Dr. and Mrs. E. Stokes, where Spronle .was happily surprised with a ldrthd.ay cake.
