A PAINFUL ACCIDENT

STEEL IN EYE SENT TO A SPECIALIST While bending a piece of steel rod over an anvil at, the Awatoto shingle works, Mr. Karl Dietschin suffered an injury to bis right eye when the anvil broke, a, small piece of metal lodging in the eyeball. Mr. Dietschin was taken to tire Napier Hospital, but after an examination it. was decided that he should be sent, to a Palmerston North specialist, and he later left by service car. Whether a specialist there, can treat him remains to be. seen, but if such ;s not, the ease he will have lo be sent to Dunedin or Christchurch. The injury is a very painful one, and it is to be hoped that treatment can be obtained in Palmerston .North to obviate the necessity of further delay. Permanent loss of the use of the eye may result from the accident. Mr. Dietschin is a married man with one child living in Hastings street, Napier. He is about, 31 years old. and has been employed at the shingle works for about 16 months.
