CHILD'S FATAL SCALDS

NO BLAME ATTACHABLE DOCTOR GIVES EVIDENCE (Per Tress Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. An inquest was held to-day concerning the death of the child, .Mary Cameron, aged 6 years, who died from scalds. A letter from her mother, who was too ill to attend, stated that she was preparing to scald milking utensils, and bad poured boiling water into a bucket which was standing inside the kitchen door. While her attention was diverted elsewhere, she heard the upsetting of the bucket and a scream from the child, who must have rushed inside and upset it. The coroner remarked that it was another case of danger in leaving boiling water within the reach of children, but it, was an ordinary accident, and no blame was attachable to anyone. Dr. Scbolelield said, that when a person, was burned and was to be taken to a hospital, it was a bad thing to put oil on wounds. Modern treatment did not use oil, which had to "be removed before the patient could be, treated. The best thing to do was to make the wounds as airtight as possible with clean rags.
