HEALTH FOR BABIES

NEW BRITISH PLAN DOCTORS' "ALLIN" FEES LONDON, Feb. 24. Paving the doctor to keep your baby well, on the principle of an old Chinese custom, is becoming popular among many people in this country, especially the professional classes. Specialists in children's complaints now undertake for an inclusive fee to look after a baby's health from birth until the child reaches the age of 18 months or longer. A West End specialist said yesterday that a large number of doctors in general practice regard themselves as children's doctors. "They would like to confine their practices solely to children," he said, "but in many cases this is not an economic proposition.

"Their armngomoiil for a newlyborn baby is to make an inclusive charge lor regular visits and examinations, advice on died at different ages, and general supervision of the child's development according to the latest approved methods. "Educated young- parents feel Hint tliey do not know enough to rely upon their own judgment in such mutters as when to make a change in diet, tuid tit what age the baby may need extra calcium." The fees for such services vary. One London specialist has just arranged to look after the lirst ba'hy of a well-to-do couple for 35 guineas. This will include frequent visits to the home during the first 18 months of the child's life.
