"MIRACLE MAN" FINED
USED TITLE OF DOCTOR LONDON, March 10. Francis Deacon, 57, who was said to have been described as the "Miracle Man of Brighton," was fined £2O, with £lO costs, at Brighton to-day for illegally describing himself as a doctor. The police revealed that Deacon had served four terms of penal servitude. Mr. G. D. Roberts, prosecuting for the Medical Defence League, said that in September. 1934, Deacon was calling himself an "osteopathic physician and surgeon." He was written to by the league, and changed the title to "osteopathic physician," and later to pathic manipulative practitioner." Last May he prefixed "Dr." to this description.
The chairman, Mr. B. J. Saunders, said that if the fine was not paid within seven days, Deacon would have to go to prison for two months.
