CONSCRIPTION FOR CHINA
MEN FROM 18 TO 45 NANKING, March 3. The National Government announce.*! that military conscription is to be put into force immediately throughout the country. The measure provides for a period of two years' training for all able-bodied men between the ages of j.S and A~) years.
Even though the introduction of conscription may only extend for the present to those provinces of Central China that are directly under the control of the Nanking Government, it is calculated to produce within a. comparatively short, period of time an army of great numerical power. According to the latest figures available the present lighting strength of the forces under the control of the National Government may he estimated at a million men.
