RICHEST BRIDE
DETAINED AT FRONTIER BIARRITZ, Feb. 24. The Duchess de Fornan-Nunez, who, at the time of her marriage five years ago, was described as the richest bride in the world, has been detained at the Spanish frontier —because she was wearing a pearl necklace. The duchess, daughter of the late Senor Anchorer.a, an Argentine multimillionaire; is one of the many aristocrats who are flocking out of Spain following the Left Wing election, triumph. No one leaving Spain is allowed to talce more than ,5000 pesetas (about £144) in money or goods. Customs officers at. Iron, on the Franco-Spanish frontier, considered that the duchess' necklace was worth considerably more than the maximum sum.
They accordingly detained her, while her children came on to Biarritz.
