MID-ROAD PARKING
PROPOSAL VETOED
ANGLE PARKING MOOTED
The Gisborne Borough Council is not in favour of car parking in the middle of Gladstone road.
Ihe works committee used only 15 words to report in this respect to the Borough Council last night." The committee had considered the matter, after the council received a petition from business people in the block between the Lost Office and Lowe street, the poiitioners pointing out that there was no public parking place in their vicinity.
Cr. G. Bradley Smith remarked on the brevity nt the report, and said that as so many signatures had been appended some reasons should be given. The Mayor. Mr. I). W. Coleman, M.l’.. said that, mid-road parking would he dangerous, and in reply to a further question said that the traffic inspector did not agree with the proposal. Cr. 11. H. DeCosta gave notice to move that angle parking he adopted •letweon Customhouse street and Feel street. Now (hat that section of Gladstone road had boon repaved, angle parking should he a success,, he considered.
