Blue skies were reported this morning between Napier and Tanranga, but overeast conditions prevailed elsewhere :« the North Island. Light to strung south-westerly winds were general. The barometer had commenced a rising movement. Temperatures at 9 o'clock were: Auckland 63 degrees, Tanranga, Gisborne and Napier 60, Opotiki 57. Bast Cape 61, and Wellington 52. Bough seas were reported at Capo Campbell and castlepoint : elsewhere moderate or smooth.

An extensive and intensive low pressure area still lies over and east of the Dominion, while an anticyclone covers most of the Tasman Sea. Winds : Southwesterly to southerly, strong to gale force. "Seas: High south of East ("ape and on the west coast of the North Island ; elsewhere rough. Eastern Tasman : Strong southerly winds to gales, with rough to high seas, but wind and rain gradually decreasing. Weather: Cold, unsettled and squally with intermittent rain in most districts, and on the ranges snow. Further heavy rains likely in the eastern areas, and about Cook Strait: hail in places; conditions gradually moderating however from the westward.
