The Minister of .Health, Sir Kingslev Wood, speaking at /lluddersiieid last night, .said he wa's in consultation with local authorities, voluntary associations, and midwives on the terms of the bill to organise the services of salaried midwives.
It was being drafted, and he hoped to present it to Parliament at an, early date. He was pursuing three lines of progress: — Encouragement of local authorities to develop their maternity and child welfare services.
Special study of the problem in areas showing a persistently high rate Of maternal mortality, and
Better equipment of doctors and midwives, with whom rested the actual task of attending mothers.
