AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS MATCH WITH TRANSVAAL CENTURY BY FINGLETON (Elec. Tel, Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Jan. 28, 11 a.m.) JOHANNESBURG, Jan. 27. The Australian cricketers, with a score of 346, defeated Transvaal by an innings and 29 runs. The weather was fine and warm and the wicket perfect. Darling was the victim of a great catch at deep square leg. He liit nine fours. Chipperfield made two fours in succession before he was fowled by a beautiful offturning ball. There was another sensation when Fingleton was (bowled by the first (ball in Gaydon's next over, the ball keeping low and shooting in sharply. Fingleton displayed delightful forcing tactics and hit 11 fours. Siovers, batting 'brilliantly, ran up 72 in 90 minutes, with 11 fours. The Australian innings occupied 27;") minutes. Transvaal began its second innings after tea, and after a good opening partnership 'by Coen and Rowan, and a stand of the tail-enders, Langton and Nupen, were all out shortly after G o'clock, the captains agreeing to finish the match to-day.
