PRAISE AND CRITICISM
WORK OF MR. EDEN ENDEAVOURS FOR PEACE LONDON. Jan. 25. "Another triumph for Mr. Eden," says the News-Chronicle and other papers, discussing the settlement of the Danzig dispute at Geneva, in which the Foreign Secretary, Mr. Anthony Eden, played a leading part. "Dangerous Mr Eden," says the Daily Mail, which daily condemns his attitude regarding the dispute between Italy and Abyssinia. The Daily Mail expresses the opinion that Mr. Eden is leading Britain into conflict in the Mediterranean.
The News-Chronicle, on the contrary, answers: "There could be no bettet reply to the parrot talk about 'a dangerous Mr. Eden.' Twice he has played a bold part, saving the threatened peace of Europe. Now he has done it a third time. Mr. Eden firmly and boldly faced the Danzig Nazis, resulting in the Danzig question ceasing to exist as a threat to Europe's peace."
