ROMNEY OFFERING
FIRST DAY OF SALE
SHEEP IN GOOD CONDITION
The first day of the annual Bum Fair held under the auspices of llie Poverty Bay Stockbrokers' Association at the rostrum on the Poverty Bay A. and P. Association's showgrounds commenced this morning. There was only a small attendance when the sale commenced, although some good lots were ottered. Within half an hour, however, the attendance increased, and some keen bidding was the result. The offering was slightly smaller this year than last. Compared with 1750 Roniueys coming forward last year, only 1680 were penned to-day. Last year the top price for Romneys was lOgns., but this year the sheep offered were said to be not quite up to last year's standard. Most lots sold readily, and there were very few passings early iu the sale. Prices for the early lots were as follows :
