MOTORIST RESCUES BOY
SWAM FULLY CLOTHED LAD JUST ABOUT DONE (Per "Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. A motorist, fully clothed, Mr. .Jack Diamond, of St". Heliers, entered the water fully clothed at Kohimarama this morning and rescued a boy who was in difficulties. Jack Hewitt, aged 12, had been swimming alone when the wind carried a. waterball to sea and he swam after it. He became exhausted, and his plight, was seriouri before it. was noticed. Attracted by a small group of people pointing excitedly, Mr. Diamond, who was driving in the direction of the city, saw the boy's hands above tjie water 20yds. out. He said when he had rescued' the lad-that the latter was "just about done." Mr. Diamond was hampered considerably in his rescue work by Hie weight of 'soaked clothing. The boy was taken to a nearby house and later returned home.
