OIL PROSPECTING
8000 PT. BORING MACHINE
PORTSMOUTH, Dec. 1.1
Following the granting by the Mines Department of 30 oil prospecting licenses, a. site has been chosen at Paulsgrove, on the northern shore of Portsmouth Harbour, for experimental borings by the D'Arcy Exploration
Company, a subsidiary of the Anglo Iranian Oil Company.
The apparatus to be used for the work is capable of boring to a depth of 8000 ft. Portsmouth City Council sanctioned the scheme at a meeting to-day.
