FREIGHTER ON FIRE
CREW TAKES TO BOATS HELP WITHIN REACH (Reed. Jan. 25, 3 p.m.) TOKIO, Jan. 24. The British freighter Forth Bridge is on fire off north Japan, the flames being beyond control. The ship's company of 32 has taken to the lifeboats.
A salvage ship, the Kahoku Maru, has arrived, hut' has not yet sighted the lifeboats and is unable to approach the Forth Bridge owing to the flames. A Japanese torpedo boat is participating in the search.
