Mr. A. C. Philpott. chief district clerk. Department of Apricnltiire, Wellington, was in Qisborne yesterday. Mr. C. Andrew, inspector of offices, Department of Agriculture, is at present in Gisborne on an official visit. He expects to remain until next week. Mr. Harold L. Bailclon, who has occupied the. position of district agent for the Mutual Life and Citizens' Assurance Company, Limited, in the Poverty Bay district for the past two years, has rereived notice of his transfer OH promotion as assistant superintendent to the Dunedin Office. Mrs. A. Routledge, of Temuka, whose bequests to charity, totalling £3750, were reported on Saturday from Dunedin, was a sister of Mrs. A. Carson, wife of Captain Carson. Gisborne. Mrs. Houtledge was the daughter of Mr. Arthur Scoullar. of the well-known Dunedin firm of Scoullar and Chisholrne. liimited.
