BLINDNESS CURED
WOMAN GAINS SIGHT DELIGHTED BY COLORS LONDON,. Jan. 5. Miss Madge Brewer, of Wiltshire. 25 years of age, has gained her sight after a life of blindness. Nine unsuccessful operations were performed. The tenth was successful, though she cannot yet see objects in their normal perspective, and only really enjoys color. She is spending the present week with her mother. She thinks that the streets and public buildings are dreary, in the day time, but when they are illuminated at night they are delightful. She * is excited to find so much color in the underground railways, which she imagined wer§ gloomy tunnels. She was fascinated by the pantomime “Jack and the Beanstalk” at Drury Lane, but to her the best part of a cinema display was the interval, when combinations of colored lights were played upon a silken curtain. She had imagined that Buckingham Palace was remote from London life, and was astonished to see that the King’s home adjoined a public street.
